Turkish Airlines carries 7.2 mn passengers in May, launches new sustainability brand, ET TravelWorld


Turkish Airlines has announced impressive passenger and cargo traffic results for May 2024. The airline carried a total of 7.2 million passengers, marking a significant milestone with a total load factor of 79.8 per cent.

Carrying 7.2 million passengers, Turkish Airlines achieved an international load factor of 79.3 per cent and a domestic load factor of 84.2 per cent. This reflects a strong trust from travellers. Moreover, the airline’s capacity grew significantly by 7.3 per cent, reaching 21.3 billion available seat kilometers, a notable increase from the previous year.

The rise in international-to-international transfer passengers by 3.6 per cent demonstrates their growing global connectivity. Additionally, the surge in cargo and mail volume by 28.8 per cent indicates a robust logistics operation.

In the period from January to May 2024, the airline achieved significant growth in various aspects. The total number of passengers carried during this time reached 32.8 million, marking a 5.7 per cent increase from the same period in 2023. This growth was also evident in the transfer passengers segment, with international-to-international passengers increasing by 7 per cent to 12.6 million.

Despite a slight decrease in the overall load factor to 80.4 per cent, the capacity saw a significant rise, with ASK increasing by 10.8 per cent to 100 billion.

By the end of May 2024, Turkish Airlines’ fleet size reached 456 aircraft, reflecting its ongoing expansion and commitment to enhancing its global network.
The event presented a display of sustainable in-flight products and services, along with the exhibition of items made from repurposed aircraft parts.
