Shree Ramkrishna Exports joins United Nations Global Compact


Natural diamond manufacture and export business Shree Ramkrishna Exports has joined the United Nations Global Compact as a member. As part of its commitment to sustainability and ethnical practices, the business will implement United Nations Global Compact policies.

“SRK is deeply committed to integrating sustainability into our core business strategy and to not only setting an example for the rest of the industry but to bringing others along with us,” said SRK’s chief human capital and sustainability officer Nirav Mandir, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council reported on its website. “We are eager to collaborate with global corporations to share best practices and foster sustainable business models that benefit all stakeholders. Engaging with the UNGC and its partners will equip us with valuable tools and insights to further embed sustainability into our operations.”
 
The United Nations Global Compact’s voluntary initiative has been adopted by businesses across the world with the aim of promoting more sustainable and socially ethnical business practices. Joining the initiative is a significant milestone for SRK, according to the Surat based business.
 
SRK has already undertaken numerous sustainability projects and its two flagship business facilities SRK House and SRK Empire have achieved net zero emissions. This made SRK the first company in the world to be awarded the Global Network for Zero’s net zero certification for existing buildings. The business has also undertaken charitable initiatives to promote environmental development through its charitable arm.
