Reliance Retail is keen to tap into the fast growing quick commerce industry in India, ET Retail reported. JioMart currently offers next day delivery as well as slotted delivery on its mostly fast moving consumer goods products. The business plans to first launch quick commerce for its groceries segments then later expand to include other categories.

After its initial launch across eight cities, the business plans to gradually roll out quick commerce services to 1,000 Indian cities. Many quick commerce players utilise dark stores to house their inventory discreetly within metropolitan locations. However, JioMart does not plan to go down this road and will harness its preexisting network of stores and fulfilment centres, the Economic Times reported.

Quick commerce is designed to help customers purchase goods from the comfort of their own home without having to wait for deliveries. Other businesses which have expanded into the quick commerce space in India include Zepto, Blinkit, and Big Basket among others.
