Updated on June 18: Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s collector’s edition is available to preorder for PS5 at Walmart. It will sell out quickly.
Following the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater gameplay reveal trailer shown at Summer Game Fest, preorders for the anticipated remake are now available. The game will be available in multiple versions on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, including a special day-one launch version and a massive physical collector’s edition. Preorders for the collector’s edition have already sold out at Best Buy, Amazon, and GameStop. If you see it in stock, we’d recommend snagging your copy as soon as possible.
A release date hasn’t been announced by Konami. In a since-deleted post on X, GameStop stated the remake would arrive on November 17. The retailer says the post included an “incorrect release date.” We’ll update this article as soon as Konami announces the date.
Considering the original Snake Eater is often cited as one of the greatest games of all time and a highlight of the Metal Gear franchise, it’s nice to see Konami going all-out for the remake’s release–but you should act fast if you want to grab one of the collector’s editions before they sell out. The Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Collector’s Edition includes everything in the Tactical Edition plus a bunch of exclusive collectibles, the main one being a mini terrarium scene of Snake during the game’s opening mission. Additionally, there’s a replica of the in-game fake ID card featuring Snake wearing the scientist disguise that fans of the originals will recognize. You also get FOX UNIT and HALO jump patches, and a special steelbook case featuring Yoji Shinkawa’s artwork from the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It all comes packed in a special collector’s edition box.
You can preorder the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Collector’s Edition for PS5 at Walmart, but it will sell out quickly (June 18). Best Buy, Amazon, and GameStop sold out of preorders for both PS5 and Xbox Series X very quickly. Best Buy also has the Collector’s edition, but it sold out in minutes. Amazon was taking orders on the PS5 version for mere minutes before it sold out, too. It’s possible Best Buy will restock soon, however, and more retailers will likely open preorders soon.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which originally launched on PS2 back in 2004. Largely considered one of the best games in the series Metal Gear Solid 3 takes the story back to the Cold War to show the origins of the franchise’s winding political mythos. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater retains the dialog, cutscenes, and level layouts of the original game, and updates it all with new visuals in the Unreal 5 engine, and overhauled gameplay mechanics that let players choose between classic and modern control options.
