Marriott announces Mumbai’s first Tribute portfolio hotel ‘The Ballard’, ET TravelWorld

Marriott International has announced a collaboration with the Balwa Group to unveil Mumbai’s first Tribute Portfolio Hotel, The Ballard, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. Situated in the heart of Mumbai‘s esteemed commercial areas, Ballard Estate, The Ballard is set to open its doors in March 2026. Ballard Estate is renowned as Mumbai’s oldest and most iconic business district, characterized by its rich history, Victorian architecture, verdant surroundings, and spacious offices.

Ranju Alex, Area Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International, expressed enthusiasm about this milestone, stating, “The introduction of Tribute Portfolio in Mumbai marks a significant achievement for the brand. The growing demand for unique hotel experiences appeals not only to leisure travellers but also to business travellers. With its prime location and upscale amenities, The Ballard will showcase the city’s hidden gems, providing authentic experiences and fostering connections with the local community. We are excited about the potential of our partnership with the Balwa Group to offer a distinct experience to our guests in Mumbai.”

The hotel’s strategic location within the Fort Area offers seamless access to key tourist attractions, cultural landmarks, and bustling business centers. The blend of modern architectural design with the district’s rich heritage ensures a unique guest experience, immersing travelers in the historical allure of Ballard Estate. We look forward to expanding our partnership with Marriott International, building on our existing relationship with The Fairfield by Marriott Mumbai International Airport.”The boutique property is expected to feature 49 guestrooms, two restaurants, a rooftop bar, and a fully equipped fitness center. Its strategic positioning enables easy exploration of heritage landmarks such as the Gateway of India, Port House (Old Bombay Port Trust Building), and the Asiatic Library of Mumbai. Additionally, the hotel’s proximity to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal, a historic train station showcasing exquisite Gothic architecture, adds to its allure as a gateway to Mumbai’s colonial-era splendor.

Tribute Portfolio, comprising over 100 unique and independent hotels across nearly 30 countries, celebrates captivating design and vibrant social experiences, catering to both guests and locals alike.
