Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has sold over 675,000 cars with connected features since 2019. These features are available in 12 of their 14 car models in India, and utilise the Bluelink platform. This AI-based technology connects the vehicle to the user’s mobile device. In 2024, connected car sales comprised 25.7% of HMIL’s retail sales, a significant increase from 4.7% in 2019. The company aims to expand Bluelink’s features and availability.
HMIL first introduced its connected car technology, Bluelink, with the Hyundai Venue in 2019. This system initially offered 35 telematics features focused on performance, convenience, safety, and security. The technology uses an embedded SIM card within the vehicle. Bluelink allows for the exchange of crucial information between the car and the user’s device.
The Bluelink platform is currently available in 12 Hyundai models. These include the i20, i20 N Line, Exter , Venue , Venue N Line, Verna, Creta, Creta N Line, Creta electric, Alcazar, Tucson, and the IONIQ 5.
“Hyundai Motor India Limited was the first OEM to introduce embedded connected car technology in India called Bluelink. HMIL is committed to India and every benchmark technology we introduce is aimed at improving the ownership experience of our customers. Bluelink has significantly uplifted user and ownership experience, transforming cars into lifestyle products, garnering appreciation of customers from across the country. In 2025, Hyundai further introduced the In-car Payment platform, which is an evolutionary technology that transforms the vehicle into a seamless payment platform, enhancing convenience and efficiency for customers. Today, connected cars drive a significant part of Hyundai’s overall sales in India, surpassing half a million sales milestone. With the ever-increasing number of tech savvy, convenience seeking, and young car buyers, I am confident that the demand for connected car tech will rise rapidly in the coming years,” stated Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head – Corporate Planning at HMIL, regarding Hyundai’s connected car technology.
Creta electric
Hyundai introduced its in-car payment platform with the Creta electric model. This feature allows drivers to pay for EV charging directly from the vehicle’s infotainment system at approximately 1,500 charging stations. The system also allows drivers to locate over 10,000 charging points across India through the infotainment screen.
Hyundai Bluelink provides a range of convenience features accessible through a mobile app. These include remote services, real-time vehicle tracking, and fuel efficiency data. The app also helps locate nearby Hyundai service centers, fuel stations, and restaurants, and provides navigation to these locations.
Digital key feature
A digital key feature, introduced with the Hyundai Alcazar and now available in the Creta Electric, allows the driver’s phone to function as the car key. This eliminates the need for a physical key. Among the most frequently used convenience features are remote vehicle start, remote climate control, find my car, and send destination to car.
