“Today’s event marks a significant step in our journey towards strengthening trade relationships with Central America,” said GJEPC chairman Vipul Shah, the GJEPC reported on its website. “This hybrid Buyer-Seller Meet is not just an opportunity to showcase our products but also a platform for us to understand your markets, preferences, and needs firsthand. It is the beginning of what we envision to be a prosperous and enduring partnership.”

The event took place both online and offline on June 24 and was attended by the ambassador of India to Guatemala Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, who delivered the welcome address. The Embassy of India in Guatemala City’s head of chancery and second secretary for political and press information Ramesh C Khulbey then introduced the Guatemalan panellists.

The event was set up to bolster economic ties between India and Guatemala and strengthen bilateral trade in the jewellery industry. Meeting attendees agreed that the sector holds significant potential for growth for businesses in both countries. Guatemala was also noted for its proximity to the Northern Triangle, making the country a strategic doorway to trade with other Central American nations.

Other event attendees included the GJEPC’s National Exhibitions Sub-committee member Shailesh Sangani and GJEPC executive director Sabyasachi Ray. Indian jewellery manufacturers and exporters were also present.
