Despite these positive developments, the demand situation in the chemical industry remains tense. Nearly half of the companies reported receiving too few orders, with the figure increasing to 46.6 per cent in April from 40.6 per cent in January.
The business climate in Germany’s chemical industry improved in April, with the index rising to minus 6 points from minus 10.1 in March.
Current business situation assessments improved to minus 16 points from minus 18, and business expectations rose to 4.6 points.
Despite increased order shortages, companies are optimistic about future foreign orders.
However, there is optimism about future orders, especially from abroad. For the first time since January 2023, some companies are planning to raise their sales prices, and more companies intend to expand production in the coming months.
