Garden fairies here.
We are garden fairies and it took us almost all day to alert Carol that it is International Fairy Day, today, June 24.
She can be so, what is the word? Let us just say that she can be slow on the uptake at times, especially when she is faux busy in the garden.
That’s right, we are garden fairies and we wrote “faux busy” as in she thinks she’s busy but compared to what we have going on, she isn’t busy at all.
For example, we have been working all spring and early summer getting the straw foxglove seeds to set and then in on crazy 15 minute cutting spree, Carol cut them all off and shoved them in a bag for the trash.
But we were, as always, one step ahead of Carol. Seedy and Soddy assured all of us that there are a few secret spots where she missed cutting back the straw foxglove seedheads so there will be more self-sowing going on with those.
We are garden fairies.
In other news of the day on this, our very important, special day, we were pleased to see that Carol weeded on the patio today. We honestly don’t mind if she pulls up seedlings growing in the cracks between the patio pavers because we know they won’t last that long and besides, we also know that she will always leave any violas that show up and also petunias.
We are garden fairies, we have trained her well.
Now, we must make this a short post because we are garden fairies, and it is past the summer solstice, which means we have a lot to do, especially out in the Vegetable Garden Cathedral. It is “go time” out there was we get into high gear with the squash, beans, and tomatoes, not to mention peppers.
But we also have to take time to celebrate. After all, it is International Fairy Day. May all who celebrate enjoy it!
