Dubai’s landmark of luxury, Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, celebrates 25 years, ET TravelWorld

Jumeirah marks the 25th anniversary of its iconic Burj Al Arab hotel UAE

The iconic Jumeirah Burj Al Arab is celebrating its 25th anniversary on December 1, 2024, ahead of the UAE National Day. Since its opening in 1999, the dhow sail-shaped landmark has transformed the landscape of luxury hospitality, cementing Dubai’s position as a global tourism hub. From hosting world-renowned events to being the backdrop for gravity-defying stunts, the hotel remains a beacon of creativity and ambition.

Over the years, the property has witnessed extraordinary moments, including adrenaline-pumping stunts on its helipad, such as a skydiving feat by His Excellency Nasser Al Neyadi in 2013, a tennis match between legends Andre Agassi and Roger Federer in 2005, and David Guetta’s UNICEF fundraising DJ set in 2021.

A Global expansion vision

As Jumeirah celebrates this milestone, the brand is looking to the future with a renewed focus on international expansion and sustainable growth. Recent announcements include new properties such as Jumeirah Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab in the UAE, and Jumeirah Le Richemond Geneva in Switzerland. These developments are part of a strategy to establish Jumeirah as a leading global luxury hospitality brand.

Thomas Meier, Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO of Jumeirah, reflected on the anniversary, “As we celebrate 25 years since the opening of Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, we take pride in our legacy of excellence and the warmth of Arabian hospitality. Our vision remains rooted in creating not just beautiful destinations but spaces that connect people and cultures. With the same pioneering spirit, we will embrace the future while preserving the values that have made us a global leader.”

Sustainability & community engagement

Beyond its opulence, Jumeirah Burj Al Arab is committed to conservation and community welfare. It hosts the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project (DTRP), which has rescued and released thousands of critically endangered turtles into the wild, exemplifying Jumeirah’s dedication to ocean conservation and sustainability.

Dubai is one of the most popular destinations for tourists this year as it was one of the first to open borders for tourism.

From its fleet of bespoke Rolls Royce cars to its legendary Skyview Bar, which once served the world’s most expensive cocktail at AED 27,321, Jumeirah Burj Al Arab continues to set unprecedented standards in luxury. The hotel’s butler service for every suite ensures an unmatched guest experience, solidifying its status as a symbol of exclusivity and sophistication.

Looking ahead

As Jumeirah Burj Al Arab commemorates its 25th anniversary, it embarks on a journey to redefine the future of luxury hospitality while honoring its storied past. With bold expansion plans and a commitment to sustainability, the hotel is not just a landmark but a testament to Dubai’s vision of blending tradition with innovation.
