Bangladesh PM Hasina approves $68.33 bn budget for FY25



The size of Bangladesh’s national budget for fiscal 2024-25 (FY25) will be Tk 8 lakh crore (~$68.33 billion), which was recently approved by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

To be presented in the parliament on June 6, the budget’s top priority will be controlling inflation, Hasina reportedly said. She is also in favour of discouraging luxury goods imports.

Other budget priorities stressed by the prime minister include increase in foreign direct investment, controlling imports, carefully implementing development projects, increase in revenue collection, increase in the income of expatriates through legitimate channels and rise in the number of beneficiaries under social security programmes, according to domestic media reports.
