Indian travelers both domestically and internationally are prioritizing affordability for summer travel, with value cited as the top motivator. Exploring both the long and short haul destinations this summer. Spiritual destinations like Ayodhya dominate domestic searches, while Sydney leads international interest. Booking.com data shows a rise in both domestic and international travel with European destinations gaining traction.

There is an 18 per cent increase in accommodation searching as compared to last year, while an increase of 29 per cent seen in flight searches. The main travel motivators among Indian families can be seen in three key interests with 56 per cent for spending quality time with family, followed by 47 per cent exploration and 18 per cent for relaxation.

This aligns with trending destinations offering scenic beaches, local cuisine and cultural immersion. Booking.com reveals Indian families are prioritizing value for money this summer, with 51 per cent citing it as the key driver for travel.

Spiritual travel is on the rise with Ayodhya, Vrindavan and Tirumala featuring in the top 10 most searched domestic destinations. Beach and hill stations like Panchgani, Goa and Mussoorie remain popular.

Looking abroad, Sydney, Osaka and Split are the most sought-after destinations. Europe sees a 36 per cent surge in interest with the UK, Germany and Spain leading the pack. This is followed by Asia 35 per cent and North America 17 per cent.

Harnessing AI technology, Savvy Search enables users to describe their ideal trip, whether it’s a “cheap European city break in October” or a “30th birthday trip with fun nightlife and a great food scene.” The tool then provides up to three curated destination recommendations, complete with rich descriptions and imagery to highlight each location’s unique appeal.

Interestingly, 65 per cent of families say popular media influences their travel choices which is inspired by food featured in shows or movies. Technology is also embraced, with 82 per cent planning to use AI tools for trip planning. Comfort reigns supreme with 81per cent prioritizing air conditioning when booking accommodation. Notably, 57 per cent of families show interest in travel nannies, suggesting a potential new trend.
